Bernd and Hilla Becher
Report on your initial reactions to the artist's work.
I noticed a lot of lines, symmetry, repetition, and geometrical shapes.
How would you categorize their work?
Architecture Photography
Compare their works to works you’ve seen before. How do they compare? Do you like them or dislike them and why?
I have seen architectural photography before, but what I think I haven't seen before is the repetition they involve and how they sort of make photography collections where all the pictures make sense within each other.
If someone made their work today, how would it be different or the same?
I think it would involve more recent types of architecture and maybe involve digital photography.
Analyze the quote at the end of the slide show.
“...art school used to put the fear of God into their students by asking them “Can you make a living out of that?” We wanted just the opposite and simply told them to make stuff first then we’d go on from there.” I think that this is a really nice way to look at art since I think that once you are not focusing on if you are going to be able to profit off your work, there's where you get the best and original art pieces.
Make sure to include images that stood out to you either from the powerpoint or ones found online.
